The things that annoy me about sewing patterns...
Like any shop bought garment you buy , sewing patterns will differ in fit and size. There is a huge range of new independent patterns available and they are not cheap. My biggest hate is seeing people cut their patterns. This is lazy and downright wasteful, you will not be able to reuse it if you want to use another size. It is so easy to trace them out.
The other things that annoy me are patterns trying to reinvent the wheel by using new terminology, lack of seam allowances and only giving the options of using a zig zag or overlocker for a seam finish. WHY!!! My favourite seam finish is a "French Seam" is strong, neat and easy to do when you know how.

Arts & crafts are good for the soul...
Sewing is my Therapy.. It takes time , its challenging, its fun, its sociable. If you have met me I like to natter , sorry but I do and I have wonderful conversations with my students. I hate that schools deem the arts & crafts not as important as the academic subjects. I am dyslexic so really struggled at school. Please encourage your children to follow their passion of arts & crafts they will be the APP designers of the future.
Like anything you learn it takes time, there is a process, a correct way to do things. However what I enjoy is that Iam still learning. New Techniques & new tools. When attending my classes simple things like pinning, cutting fabric and even sewing a straight line need to be learn't.
I enjoy passing this knowledge onto my students and get a buzz when I see that light bulb moment when they get it.
